Saving The Date

23May10

It's been a while since I posted, but thought I'd give you a peek at our Save the Dates. It's looking a little faded (thanks to our scanner), but we thought this portrayed our Mad Men style the best.

Engagement Shoot: The Best of the Rest

22Mar10

We knew that our friend Dave Lam was an amazing photographer, but we didn't realize how awesome these pics would turn out. We were both nervous at first, but Dave made us feel great in front of the lens — and it really shows in these shots. You saw the sneak peek, now check out the best of the rest! Oh, and yes, of course Samson had to get in on the action.

Lots more to see after the break.

Engagement Shoot: Sneak Peek!

08Mar10

On Saturday, our dear friend Dave came over to our place to shoot our engagement pics. We had planned them inside, since it was supposed to be raining, but alas, the weather held out and we got some amazing shots inside and around our apartment building.

Dave made the shoot super easy (despite my fear of being photographed), but I'll tell you now — a little alcohol goes a long way! Thank God for Mimosas.

A few more after the break.

Let There Be Lights

21Feb10

I was having some trouble settling on a color scheme after we decided yellow and gray weren't going to work for us (a lot has changed in the few months I've been away!), so I took to looking at photos of vintage nightclubs, theaters, and Don Draper-esque stomping grounds to get some inspiration.

Luckily, I stumbled upon this photo of the Waldorf Astoria at night, which totally took my breath away. How awesome are these colors together!? The royal blue really pops against the sea foam green, gold, and bronze, and it's totally the 50's-inspired palette I've been looking for. Now just to find a lighting company that can keep me in my budget. San Francisco recommendations are always welcome . . .

The Venue Take Two: Verdi Club

19Feb10

Aaaaand, we're back! You may be wondering why I'm posting about another venue that looks nothing like the previous "OMG here's my venue isn't it awesome!" post. We had a bit of a — how do you say — hiccup with the spot in Sonoma, so it's on to bigger and better things. We found the Verdi Club during a desperate search through Yelp for event venues. I say desperate, because it's getting on to be seven months before the big day, and we still didn't have an address to put on the invites (not that we have invites yet — come on!). The place is in San Francisco, which let's face it, is way more "us" than a tucked-away garden in Sonoma. Plus we can have it all — a DJ, a band, and dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Solid.

The good news is that the Verdi Club puts my mind at ease. They offer an "all-inclusive" package — venue and catering — plus, I don't have to worry about my mom cleaning up afterwards. They do it all! We checked the place out and got a really good feeling that this is the perfect place for a 50's/60's style party, so we went with it. The tasting is next month, so I'll be sure to post my review of the food!

Additionally (and this is amazing for SF), Verdi waives the rental fee ($2500) if you use their caterer and have over 100 guests! I couldn't believe it either, but it's true. Thankfully, they had our original date available, so we're on our way!
